I would recommend this place for people wanting to study the sciences-- engineering, chemistry, nursing and the like. Reasons why I picked this institution for nursing (as opposed to Baylor, TCU, etc): Highest NCLEX passing rate in the state for several years in a row now, the only university in the state (and perhaps country?) with a SMART hospital, and the only nursing school with a genome lab in the country. Plus I got 6/6 job offers that I applied for before I even graduated in May. The brand is famous locally: BUMC staffed their cardiac ICU almost exclusively of UTA grads this year, over the 400 applicants from all over the state for the four positions open. Still, only 10-20% of nursing school applicants are accepted into the program every semester, but that's the beauty of a state school. No bars are lowered for the sake of retention. - Christine C.
