Positioning A Patient: Laying Positions

Shown below are the different ways of positioning a patient and their laying positions.

 

Laying positions

Fowlers– Semi sitting, head of bed is 45-60 degrees, good for people with heart and respiratory disorders.

Supine-Back lying. Bed is flat.

Prone-Lies on abdomen with head turned to one side, bed is flat.



Lateral-Lies on one side or the other, bed is flat.

Sim’s-Left lying postion, bed is flat.

Chair Position-Sitting in a chair, feet touching floor and back touching back of seat.
